The night train to Belgrade. It’s hot but there’s a pleasant draft in the carriage- all the windows are open. In the corridor, a young man is playing accordion and I feel like I’m in some surreal but incredibly romantic film.
The train is moving towards a storm. Though it’s dark already and you can’t distinguish shapes of the clouds, time after time the sky lights up with a lightening. The sound of thunder blends with the heavy clatter of the train’s wheels on the rails.
Part Four: Me touristing @ St Stephen’s Basilica
Due to the arrangement of our flights/ train journeys, I had to wait for Greg for two days in Budapest this summer. I took a bus there from Poland and he was joining me later coming on a plane. I kind of enjoyed exploring the city on my own- I think it’s something everyone wants to do sometimes. I saw some of the ‘main’ tourist attractions (like St Stephen’s Basilica for example) as well just walked around aimlessly. I enjoyed both, but to be honest by the end of my stay there I seriously missed having my man with me and was over the moon to see him emerge from the tube station when he finally arrived:)
Part Three: Rainy day and tea @ Podma
Back to the uni trip from November 2009. You might be wondering, how on earth did I manage to remember things like names of clubs or cafes. This is where keeping a journal comes handy. It’s also a great way to keep some of the things that would otherwise be forgotten- alive. Things like funny things your friends said and names and addresses of restaurants that you’d definitely want to come back to. This is what I use it for anyway:) Ida from Idanen
Part Two: My stay @ BeboP Hostel
Really cool place. I stayed there for 2 nights last summer (2010) and met people from all around the globe. 2 Austrians, one Irish, one English and one Australian. And the Hungarians of course!
I won’t write much and describe everything in detail. It is too late now and there would be too much to describe. The trip was good. I went many places, mostly by feet, sometimes on a tram. (Tram if Ida was around, that girl has a real thing for trams!) I got to know some people a bit better which I really really appreciate as being sociable isn’t my strongest side. I was surprised how much I enjoyed spending time with other human beings, ha! Such a nice change . I didn’t take to many photos but that was easily predictable as I never bring a lot of photos from any kind of trip. I shot something about 2,5 35mm and a few frames on medium format but that’s about it.
I can now really recommend Budapest as a place to visit.
