Some time ago, in November I visisted the Design Museum to see John Pawson’s Plain Space. It just happened that another show was on at the same time, and that you could see both paying for just one (in other words: buy 1 get 1 free for gallery shows).
The other show was Drawing Fashion. I’ve just checked and it’s actually still on (until the 6th of March), so if you’re planning a gallery day and still haven’t seen it… Go and see it!
My favourite artist of that exhibition was Mats Gustafson. I think I must have come across his work earlier, because it felt somehow familiar, but I couldn’t really remember (and still can’t) where or when I’ve seen it. I’ve always liked watercolour. In fact, Gustafson’s paintings, reminded me very much of paintings by another artists, whose name I can’t remember. I know she was a female and that I’ve seen her work in Tate Modern- large portraits of women. I’ve looked and searched but I don’t have much time this morning, so my research will have to wait for a better moment. Anyway, similarity to the paintings by the mysterious female artist could be an explanation for the ‘I’ve seen it before’ feeling I experienced while looking at Gustafson’s work. But look, I’m rambling and it’s not even what I want to share.
The moment I’ve seen Gustafson’s work I was fascinated by it. It was so minimalistic, yet so evocative. I thought to myself ‘wouldn’t it wonderful to take photographs that would have similar qualities?’. Indeed, I thought it would be great to have a go at making photographic versions of his paintings. Oh the glorious feeling of being inspired!
But what do I stumble upon having done some research into relationships between fashion drawing and photography? Yes, it has already been done and not just by someone but by Paolo Roeversi himself! It hasn’t quite put me of from having a go myself, but what has been done by Roeversi, is -to no surprise- of the highest standard and beauty, so here you are, look and admire:

Philippe Parreno, Invisibleboy, 2010, Installation view

Philippe Parreno, June 8, Film Still
An exhibition worth seeing. I’m not sure what to write as I wouldn’t want to spoil your experience if you decide to go and see it for yourself. I also feel a bit intimidated to write about work that I liked so much.
Though the exhibition consists of a number of video pieces it should rather be seen as a whole- Not the videos but the gallery space itself is the artist’s medium here.
And as for the videos themselves they’re ones of those, that make you want to print all separate frames of the motion and keep them- simply spend time looking at them. Really really beautiful photography.

Some time ago, as it was before Christmas, we were asked to put on a group show, as one of our uni projects. This is how Agnitio came about. For over 2 months, myself, Ida, Sonja and Vladimir worked our socks off, but it was SOOO worth it. Won’t go into detail here, because if I start explaining what we did and did not to find our venue, I’ll just have to mention the journey of finding the right way of hanging our work. If I then mention this, I’ll just have to say something about the work itself… And so on.
Here is the little blog Vova put together to introduce our exhibit to a wider audience. You can find our personal artist statements there (Will save me explaining my work here again!) as well as examples of photographs by all of us.
These are some of my images:

Last week (or was it 2 weeks ago already?) I visited the Design Museum to see John Pawson’s Plain Space. The exhibition is located on the second floor of the DM and is made up from photographs, small-scale models of buildings designed by him, objects, drawings and materials that he tends to use for his projects. Pawson’s style is characterised by a modern look and a minimalistic approach, yet his designs come across as warm and not cold. Lovely!

Ps. Going to Design Museum before the 6th of March 2011, you get access to 2 exhibitions paying only for one. The other exhibition at this moment is the Drawing Fashion (link) which is very much worth recommending too. See it if you can!

I went on a trip with college today. It was KINDA allright, but I’m completly nackerd, I should be sleeping now, not posting on wordpress. But anyway, let the show begin, ladies and gantelmans, the crappiest pictures ever, as random as colours of poos in a public toilet (or as an ‘art’ displayed at Tate, haha):

The day was dark, wet and cold, not very ecouraging to get enthusiastic about our work, thanks God we were staying indoors all day! Btw. I love this umbrella (not mine)

Tate’s silver elevators. To be completaly honest- they freak me out, I cannot look down when I’m on them!
