Veerswamy + Browns Hotel + Massimo @ Corinthia Hotel + HIX Oyster and Chop House

A few more snap shots from a couple of other days of being an assistant to Lisa Linder. This time she was working on a material for Travel and Leisure Magazine.

Veerswamy is the oldest indian restaurant in London- it’s been around since the 20s if I’m not mistaken. We’ve been very fortunate and were asked to sit down and eat what we’ve previously photographed at the end of the day. Apparently, this doesn’t happen that often. The food was re-heated for us and there we were, enjoying delicacies such as slow-cooked lamb shank, tandoori prawns or crab kebabs, not to mention the selection of the best chutneys I’ve ever tried: raw papaya, plum, orange, onion and green mango… Very nice!

Another day started at the Browns Hotel where we photographed the Afternoon Tea which the Hotel is famous for. They do two versions of it there: the traditional one and one called ‘Tea-Tox’ – name is self-explanatory. Gosh, everything was yummy.

le Pont de la Tour, Cantina, Chop House

Despite of my poor knowledge of London, le Pont de la Tour has for a while been a place I did know about. A classy, french restaurant in Butlers Wharf with a view of London Bridge, just round the corner from the Design Museum. ‘Such a lovely place’ I used to think. Once, I even checked online for their menu thinking how nice it would be to go. And today, ay yes, I went! Not exactly for a romantic dinner with my husband (that’s still to come, I hope) but to assist Lisa Linder who’s just shooting some PR material for the D&D London Restaurants. It wasn’t just le Pont de la Tour by the way- we also shot some stuff in the Cantina and the Chop house- both literally next door from le Pont in the Butler’s Wharf.

We did get to try some of the dishes: my personal winner was a sticky toffee pudding (above, right), topped with a scoop of clotted cream and caramel. Prepared by Nicky Foley, Chop House head chef, it tasted heavenly.

Pretty light

in our kitchen! Yay!

April 8, 2011

hello!

I’m not dead just seriously busy! And… actually quite sad that I don’t have time to post anything :( . But I will definitely catch up once all the business is over. In the meantime a few shots I took while working (oh, how hard I worked! not really!) with Jason Lowe. He and his team were working on a shoot for AGA (the posh cookers people) and kindly allowed me to join them.
Jason shoots most of his work in daylight and it wasn’t different this time. His studio is a light- filled kitchen/ dining room full of fascinating randomness of plates, platters, glasses, table cloths, pots and other practical yet beautiful objects. And so for three days I was doing a little bit of this and a little bit of that- just helping out wherever someone needed a hand. I had great time (and a lot of great food!) and hope I’ll be able to visit them again one day.

Food was not only tasty but also so beautifully colourful I couldn’t help myself but grab at least a couple of shots…

Spinning Offal

These happy spinning dishes are a side-product of my photo shoot for the Active Image project. I just couldn’t help myself but make them! Due to the nature of tools I used, I could only include 10 images per each gif- there were more originally and if only I could make the animations longer, the transitions would be a lot smoother. But hey, some might say that they even have more character this way.
The images I’ll be submitting for the project were shot on Bronica SQ-A. As a result I spent the whole day today scanning them and trying to adjust the colours which is a painstaking work- once and if they’re ready (I still have quite a long way to go but I’m hoping to finish tomorrow), I’ll post them here. In the meantime, hit the link below to see the second gif : )
