Finding comfort in the familiar.
To realize this project I walked around Chatham and searched for satellite dishes brought by people over from Poland. It wasn’t difficult at all. There are many of them and they stand out quite well. They’re bigger than the English ones and have logos of the TV stations printed on them.

Offal- trends in eating

Ok, so here are the final images from the last project. I previously posted the short gifs I made from the digital files (you can see them here) but these are the proper stuff.
I’m interested in different aspects of food production and consumption as well as in dynamics that exist within the food industry. I find it strange how even such a trivial activity as eating could not escape being drawn into a net of trends and fashions. And so I looked at many different ones: Organic food, Fair Trade, Raw Food, In-vitro meat, From plate-to-paddock, Control Obsession and finally… Offal eating.

Spinning Offal
These happy spinning dishes are a side-product of my photo shoot for the Active Image project. I just couldn’t help myself but make them! Due to the nature of tools I used, I could only include 10 images per each gif- there were more originally and if only I could make the animations longer, the transitions would be a lot smoother. But hey, some might say that they even have more character this way.
The images I’ll be submitting for the project were shot on Bronica SQ-A. As a result I spent the whole day today scanning them and trying to adjust the colours which is a painstaking work- once and if they’re ready (I still have quite a long way to go but I’m hoping to finish tomorrow), I’ll post them here. pig ears, lamb tongue, ox tail
very posh, indeed.
This project is giving me a headache. Food food food. Food miles, head to tail eating, organic foods’ packaging and it’s colour palette… There’s just too much and my brain isn’t coping. Choose and then narrow it down and… I’ll be fine.
